Space Race Rules

Before starting the game, players must establish who will start (Player 1), the sequence of the following players, and define the maximum time of the game. Each player must choose a training piece (Figure 1b).

Phase 1 - Training Center:

Before starting the Space Race Game, each player must participate in training at the Space Training Center (Figure 1a). While the players are in this phase, they must correctly classify three statements in sequence. Whenever the player misses their classification, they must return their piece to the Start position (Figure 1b). This initial phase was planned to increase the game's difficulty, as the player must correctly answer three questions in a row or return to the starting point. It is a common feature present in entertaining games. After overcoming this most challenging stage, the game changes its dynamics, making it more interesting.

  1. Start the match. Player 1 must click on die 1 (Figure 1c) to determine the subject of the card that will be drawn. In sequence, they must click the "Draw" button (Figure 1d) corresponding to the subject determined by the dice. This action will draw a card from the deck on the right (Figure 1e), moving it to the deck on the left (Figure 1f), which is empty (blank area) at the beginning of the game. Then, Player 1 must verbally classify the statements as true or false.

  2. The answer. To check the answer, the player must click the "Answer" button (Figure 1g). If the player answers incorrectly, they return their piece to the Start position (Figure 1b). On the other hand, a correct answer allows the player to advance their piece one position and pass the turn to the next player. It is essential to highlight that the cards with false statements show the statement corrected on their back (Figure 1b) so the students can understand why the information presented was wrong.

  3. Choosing the spacecraft. After responding correctly to three questions, the player chooses a spacecraft (Figure 1h) to start the space race.

Phase 2 - Space Race: The players must follow a 20-square path to reach Mars, passing through the Moon.

  1. Starting the race. Player 1 must click die 1 (Figure 1c) to determine the subject of the card that will be drawn. In sequence, the player must click the "Draw" button (Figure 1d) corresponding to the topic that was determined by the dice. This action will draw a card from the deck on the right (Figure 1e), moving it to the deck on the left (Figure 1f). Then, Player 1 must answer verbally whether the statement on the drawn card is true or false.

  2. The answer. If the Player 1 answers incorrectly, they pass the turn to the next player. On the other hand, if Player 1 answers correctly, they must click on die 2 (Figure 1i), which will define the number of positions (1-6) that their piece must advance on the path.

  3. Moving the pieces. If the piece stops on square 4 (black hole), it must return to the launch position of the spaceships (Figure 1h). If the piece stops on squares 12 or 13 (asteroids rain), it must return to square 11 (Moon). If the piece stops on square 15 (wormhole), it must advance to square 18.

  4. Game over and winner. The game ends when one player reaches Mars.

  5. Game restart. The game can be restarted by clicking the "Restart" button (Figure 1j). This action will move all cards and pieces to their starting positions.
